Mugello - Cesar Ramos stays up front

Cesar Ramos left Mugello as the leader in the 2010 Italian F.3 Championship. It's been a tough trip though for BVM/Target, as the Italian squad was penalized by a bad rulebook call that compromised qualifying. On Friday afternoon, the engine of Ramos was took for scrutineering, and the Brazilian was forced to run on a newly-powered and less-performing racecar. In a plagued run, he was forced to content with 11th place. Following to the protest logged by the team, the engine was given back, allowing Cesar to complete an huge comeback.

On the two races, Cesar scored two fourth places, enabling him to keep first in standings. As he climbed back thoroughly, he almost managed to get on the podium, before a suspension issue forced him to settle at the last corner. For the first time this year, Ramos didn't show up in celebrations, but with different conditions, Cesar wouldn't have missed a beat.

Vittorio Ghirelli made an impressive debut with the Romagna-based team. Replacing his brother Edolo on the number 1 Dallara, Vittorio showcased great speed skills. Like his team-mate Barret Mertins, he had to adapt to the Italian racecar after entering the first rounds on a Mygale chassis. After qualifying in 17th , Ghirelli made it to the flag in 11th on Race 1, just 0.002s off the top-10. On Sunday's race, he ended up in 13th.

Mertins faced a more troubled job. The American was slowed down in Qualifying and had to content with 21th, before improving up to 16th on Saturday. As he proved able to keep running on the pace, and trouble-free, he's still adapting to his new car. The next round, for the Italian F.3 Championship, is at Monza on October 24.
