Another race, another win for BVM Target. In the second round of the 2009 Italian Formula 3 Championship, Daniel Zampieri showed an impressive pace by scoring a second straight pole position after the one achieved at Adria. On Race day, the Italian then cruised to take his second win in the series, providing the team run by Giuseppe Mazzotti and Roberto Venieri an extremely deserved top-notch result.
After suffering from a low performance in practice, Zampieri did a great job together with engineer Michele Ravera in the attempt to find the right set-up for the Umbria racetrack. Once the work was completed, he finalized it with several fast laps, beating his main rival Daniel Campos-Hull.
On Race 1, Daniel wasn't off to a positive start, as he got passed by several cars and settled to fourth. He then lost a couple of spots more in the final part of the race, ending up in 6th. The mistake proved somehow valuable, as it handed a top spot on Race 2. From there, Daniel proved once again to be unstoppable, as he cruised at the top with slick tires on a wet track, taking his second win and sweeping the leader's spot in standings with a 2-point advantage over Daniel Campos-Hull.
Team-mate Edoardo Liberati had a much more difficult weekend, as he took 13th and 11th after starting from the pole. Liberati, who won the 2008 F.Azzurra title, continued to climbe his learning curve in Formula 3.
