Adria - First race, first win for Daniel Zampieri

The grand opening of the 2009 Italian Formula 3 Championship turned into a great success for Target Racing. Despite being a rookie, Daniel Zampieri shown an incredible amount of talent since qualifying. The driver from Rome took a stunning pole position in 1:11.606, setting the same laptime of seasoned veteran Daniel Campos. The Spaniard paired Daniel on Row 1, since he clocked his fastest time three laps later, leaving the team's staff stunned by the newcomer's qualities. Team-mate Edoardo Liberati proved positive too. Coming from F.Azzurra, he took a spot on row 5, slowed down by a mechanical issue.

In the lapse between qualifications and Race 1, the men directed by Roberto Venieri left nothing to case, letting Zampieri finalize a perfect weekend. The Italian did not lose concentration, retaining the lead at the start and pushing hard until checkered, while Liberati paid the price of a racetrack not offering too many passing opportunities. The second race, due to the reversed grid, saw Zampieri take off from 6th. At takeoff, he quickly moved on main rival Campos and never looked back, ending up in 5th, with Liberati following in 13th. Zampieri also took the lead in standings with 27 points, opening a 5-point gap over Campos. Magione will now host the next round of the championship, on June 7.
