Johnny Cecotto's adventure with Target racing couldn't start better. Behind the wheel of his SLC-R1 006 Opel, the venezuelan, who live near Treviso, found an important point finish. He came 8^th in race 2 at the Assen raceway, in front of a 46.000 people crowd. The seventeen year old Johnny Jr. recovered from the 12^th position on the grid, while his first race was a very unlucky one: the problem was in qualifications, when the car could not make it due to an engine failure. Then he tried to gain positions fast, but went off track.
Roberto Venieri, Team Principal
“Johnny's approach to our team has been immediately interesting and productive. In race 2 he drove with intelligence, making a good comeback, even if his car was not at its top for a contact. In race one an engine problem compromised the first qualifications. Johnny is young, only seventeen, but drives well, is well prepared in mechanics, is serious and humble: he listens the advises and tries to improve, and usually knows where his weak points are. We'll see next days how our drivers situation will evolve”
