With overcast skies and a pretty cold temperature around the Budapest Area, the Hungarian round of the World Series Renault took off for its key part on Saturday morning at the Hungaroring venue. Tamas Pal Kiss confirmed the great job done that far and kept impressing by managing his tires perfectly and dealing with the psychological pressure of his first qualifying session in the series.
In the 30 minutes available, the Hungarian racer clocked the 16th fastest laps and improved the results scored, on the same car, by Venturini, Sirotkin and Zampieri this season. Despite from the mechanical issue suffered on Friday, Nikolay Martsenko found his way back to the top-20 by scoring the 19th fastest lap.
In Race 1, Kiss lost six position at the first lap to avoid a midpack contact. Unfortunately, Martsenko couldn't do the same and was forced to retire. Kiss started a bold recovery as he battled with Vainio and Ghirelli en-route to a positive 19th place finish.
