Trophies and scares for Target Racing at in Super Trofeo Lamborghini Spa round

The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Spa event is, as always happens, one of the most important and iconic of the season, running as a supporting act to the famed 24-Hour GT World Challenge Europe event. The Belgian venue is undoubtedly the most difficult of the championship, but for sure, it is also the most fascinating. The rain, which is always present, adds more suspance, in a thorough challenge for drivers and engineers. For 2020, the Spa event was two-faced for the Target team.

After positive qualifying, the first race held on Friday saw the pairing of Guzman-Pavlovic deliver a positive fourth place in the Pro Cup standings, while in the same class, Rossel-Di Folco finished P7. A podium came in the AM Cup category courtesy of Mantovani-Malagamuwa, who sealed third place in both races. While Mantovani and Malagamuwa had two satisfactions and a double delivery of silverware, the other two combinations fielded by Target Racing experienced troubled runs.

The car driven by Rossel-Di Folco had to retire immediately due to a technical issue, while after replacing Pavlovic at the pit-stop, Guzman was involved in a vicious crash in the downhill section towards Eau Rouge. The young Mexican was checked and underwent scans, but was eventually found to be in relatively good shape. The team can't wait to welcome him back for the next round, scheduled for the 14th and 15th of November at Paul Ricard Circuit in Le Castellet.
