Target wraps up the Vallelunga weekend of the Italian GT Sprint Championship with podiums and comebacks

It was a double-header for Target Racing in the second round of the Italian GT Sprint Championship, held at Vallelunga. The Lugo-based team enjoyed an intense weekend, featuring another podium finish in the GT3 class and a strong performance in the GT Cup, where the team undertook significant overnight work to get Pierluigi Alessandri's car back on track after a serious accident on Saturday.

In the GT3 class, Huilin Han was among the protagonists in the Am category at the wheel of the Ferrari 296 GT3. Fresh from a double podium finish in the season opener at Misano, the Chinese driver started the weekend in style, winning his class qualifying and confirming his strong potential in Race 1, where he finished third in his class and nineteenth overall.

Race 2 also seemed poised for another positive result. Starting from eighteenth on the grid, Han mounted a convincing comeback to climb to thirteenth overall. Unfortunately, a collision in the closing stages compromised his result, preventing him from realizing the potential he had shown throughout the weekend.

Alessandri's weekend in Rome in the GT Cup was more complicated. The driver from Romagna was involved in a violent impact with the barriers during qualifying, causing significant damage to the Ferrari 296 Challenge, forcing him to miss Race 1.

The Target Racing crews worked hard during the entire night to repair the car, allowing Alessandri to start Race 2. Starting from the back of the field, the driver from Romagna staged a remarkable comeback, gaining 26 positions and finishing eleventh overall.

The Italian GT Sprint Championship will return to action on the weekend of July 26th at the Mugello circuit.
