The third round of the McLaren Trophy Europe season, held at the Misano World Circuit named after Marco Simoncelli, delivered a memorable weekend for Target Racing. The Lugo di Ravenna-based team secured an extraordinary one-two finish in the second race of the weekend, with Guido Luchetti and Largim Ali winning ahead of Riccardo Ianniello and Gregor Jeets, confirming the competitiveness already demonstrated in the first two rounds of the season.

Qualifying immediately highlighted the potential of the Romagna-based team's McLaren Artura Trophy EVOs. In the first session, Ianniello and Jeets posted the third fastest time, ahead of teammates Alessandro Fabi and Patrick Schober, as well as Luchetti and Ali, all within just over two tenths of a second of pole position. The second qualifying session also confirmed the prowess of the Target drivers, with the Luchetti-Ali pairing third, the Fabi-Schober car sixth, and the McLaren of Ianniello-Jeets tenth.

The first race of the weekend, however, left a bitter taste. Ianniello and Jeets had finished second on the track, but a five-second penalty for a collision dropped them to seventh. Fabi and Schober, competitive throughout the race, finished eleventh after a challenging race, while Luchetti and Ali were forced to retire in the closing stages while battling for the top spots.

Revenge came on Sunday. Thanks to their third-place grid spot, Luchetti and Ali drove a flawless race, taking the lead after the mandatory pit stop and taking a well-deserved victory. Behind them, Ianniello and Jeets staged a stunning comeback from tenth on the grid to second place, completing a memorable one-two finish on Target Racing's home circuit.

Fabi and Schober were also running a high-level race, but a technical issue forced them to retire just minutes from the checkered flag, depriving them of a result that had seemed well within their grasp.

With the victory for Luchetti and Ali and the second place for Ianniello and Jeets, Target Racing closed the Misano weekend with its best result of the season in the McLaren Trophy Europe. The championship reserved for Woking cars will resume action in early October at the Spanish circuit of Montmeló.
