GT Open at Paul Ricard - Raton by Target claims ProAm victory

Raton Racing by Target kicked off its International GT Open campaign at the Paul Ricard Circuit claiming the PRO-AM victory in the first round of the season. Liang Jiatong and Raffaele Giammaria put their OPPO-backed outfit Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo on P5 overall in Race 2, clinching the class win, whilst their team-mates Alberto Di Folco and Christoph Lenz showed well in the other car as the Italian set the fastest lap in the second race too. The French weekend started with Jiatong and Giammaria taking a podium finish in Race 1, when they took the eight place and the third of the category. Chinese driver completed a good first stint without making mistakes, to hand over the car Giammaria who recovered well. In the other Lamborghini, Di Folco had a difficult start due to a slower car. Eventually he had a great pace reaching the PRO-AM lead. After the pit-stop, Lenz - at his very first experience in the GT3 - ended 14th. On Sunday morning Giammaria made a sensational qualifying. The Italian set the ninth time to survive an early tangle at the Race 2 start moving up fifth, then recovering second. After the drivers change Jiatong took the lead, making three overtaking manoeuvres that let him to claim the PRO-AM victory. In the same race Di Folco was one of the frontrunners, setting the fastest lap and finishing fifth in the class with Lenz, just outside the top 10. The next International GT Open round is scheduled late this May at Hockenheim. Team Raton Racing by Target will hit the track in less than two weeks for the second round of the Blancpain GT Series Endurance at Silverstone.
